After the conference closed we spent our first day walking around Old City Dubrovnik, which is surrounded by some massive walls. If you want more info on them, here’s the wikipedia link. The walk is only a little over a mile, but there’s lots of stairs and backtracking. Here’s a picture of Sarah delighting in her step-count.

This part of Dubrovnik is overrun with cats… they’re EVERYWHERE. Sarah and I lost count around 50. You’ll probably see them in a few of the photos if you look closely. They don’t move much, they don’t seem to care that people are all around them, they’re constantly bitching about Mondays… basically they’re cats.

Here are some pictures of the wall, some of which are taken from on the wall looking out over the city within (ie – don’t be confused if you’re not seeing the wall) Here are a couple things to look out for.

  • In some places, inner structures came down and they just let nature take over. Neat!
  • Parts of the wall are currently being restored.
  • Some residences butt right up against the wall (look for laundry)
  • In one photo you can see where half a house fell down so they decided to seal it off and just live in half a house
  • Because WordPress is a real hoot, some of these photos might be sideways or upside down. You get what you pay for… eyeroll
