The place we stayed the night before, in Doolin, was unremarkable so I’m not going to bother wish photos. However they did have a map for guests to pin their homelands. I somehow managed to cram one into the already over-marked southern tip of CA.

There was also a group of very loud gentleman driving very expensive cars NOT AT ALL fit for the roads of Ireland which bore the phrase “Christians & Cars” staying there with us. In modern times, anyway, I can’t think of a less bad-ass thing to be than a Christian. I dunno, your guess is as good as mine.

The Cliffs of Moher

These cliffs were stunning. I’ll leave it at that. Well, that and get there before the tour busses vomit a million people onto them. Ireland can’t get the widths of their road correct and the same is true for their trails. The visitor center was pretty awesome. It appeared to have been carved right out of the stone, though I imagine the interior was done up to look that way. It was like a very small science museum with high tech, interactive installations teaching you about the land and local wildlife. They even had a “4D” movie running on a loop that flew you out over the cliffs and into the water. I could quite literally hear my mother groaning in protest of the visuals as it lurched over the edge of the land.

They had a station where you could take your picture on a green screen and overlay it on a digital postcard to make it look like you were actually at the place you were actually at. Technology at its finest.

OK, one last post about Gallway and then this Ireland trip is officially in the books!
