We were here for quite a while and so I’m going to break this into two different galleries. Blarney Castle is what you think… it’s the famous place where idiots wait in line to hang upside down from the top of the castle to kiss a stone… a stone which I later learned is just one of many stones in that wall. It doesn’t look different than its stoney neighbors, it hasn’t been on Letterman, and from what we’re told – locals sneak in at night to pee on it.

Thankfully we didn’t bother waiting in line to see it or else I’d have been pissed, in more ways than one I suppose. The grounds are the real star anyway.

The Castle

Below are a few shots of and from the castle, also feature a “escape cave” that was too spidery for me and a picture of Sarah kissing a different stone. One without a line and that we made an educated guess had never been urinated on.

The Grounds

Note that they had both a “carnivorous garden” as well as a “poison garden” including plants featured in Harry Potter. Also pictured here is a “Jurassic Garden” which… I dunno, had big ferns. I saw no dinos which was a letdown but at least a letdown I’m used to.

This is also where were introduces to Jambons, a delightful Irish staple puff pastry with ham and cheese in it. Sarah made some for me when we got home because I now require them to live. 😋

Our next stop would be the Loch Lein Country House in Killarney.
