The second stop was at Beringer, which is a fairly mass market wine but their grounds are amazing so we decided to check it out. Besides that, the wines we tasted, as with most of those we sampled today, can only be purchased at the winery. The wines here were far better than what you’ll find in the stores, which was a nice surprise, though still second to the castle wines. We were very impressed with those, which is a rarity. Typically it all tastes the same to us. Oak, tanin, leather, fruit… I can usually only detect the wine undertones.
