Spoiler alert, the title pretty much sums it up. We hopped on a double-decker bus with what turned out only being 4 other tourists and got driven around the city being fed tea, tiny sandwiches, scones, and historical facts about Dublin.
It sounds a little cheesy, but honestly it was really nice. The guide and servers were super friendly. The food was great. And they let you keep the souvenir cups which we dutifully carried all across Ireland only to decide to pitch them right before going to the airport. #smart
We did this the same day as the Guinness Storeroom, with about 5 hours in-between. We used that time to get lightly rained on, wander the city, and make me (Sean) test the upper limits of my bladder.
Photos!
OK, I’m back. I didn’t realize I had only taken a few photos of this event. I was probably too busy cramming my scone-hole. The house pictured above in the distance is the President’s house, which is across the street from the US Ambassador to Ireland. The 3 best facts, that I can remember, are:
- The Irish president is pretty much universally loved (what’s that like?)
- He’s a tiny, happy man with large dogs (pictured below)
- The world’s largest consumer and producer of Guinness is Nigeria (🤯 – right?)
Here’s a link to the Vintage Tea Tours website if you want to book it for yourself. I really enjoyed this.
We headed to Kilkenny next which meant… wait for it… renting a car and driving. If I could type suspenseful music, this is where it would go.
Bruh, you put the steering wheel on the wrong side. Design car, then drink beer.
