About a 15 minute drive from our Airbnb was Bass Lake. We did some hiking nearby and then walked along the water for a bit. It was a Thursday morning and overcast, so it was quite peaceful.
Mono Trail
We started off with a very short but poorly-labeled-as-easy hike called Mono Trail. It was maybe only a half mile but quite steep in all directions. We encountered only a few hikers much to Maui’s glee. He was really loving this hike, scampering along logs, under branches, and hopping from rock to rock. I’ve never seen him so bold. He practically pulled me through the whole hike and at the end turned around to do it again.
Bass Lake
There isn’t much to report here aside from the fact that Maui really liked romping in the very shallow, very mellow waves. He was brave… until a 4 inch wave crashed too close to him sending him running for cover. I’m still proud of him. Auggie was also there and true to form he seemed neither impressed nor bothered by waves of any size. Have we spoiled him? Probably. Maybe? 😟 Yes.
