Overlooking the island of Hvar is a fortress built in the 1500s (see placard below). From our hotel, it was only about a 10 minute walk to the base of the hill upon which is sits and then a leisurely 30 minute hike up paved switchbacks to the top. I did my best to get some photos OF the actual fortress, but the real star was the view FROM it. Walls, bars, cannons… you get it. But that view 😳

Oh, and I forgot to mention in the last post that we walked past this statue of what appears to be a millenial checking Instagram. On our way back, there was a group of about 10 local teenagers all sitting around it – every single one of them on their phone. There was even one kid sitting ON this statue looking at his phone. Hard to say if this statue was a marker for this kind of activity or if we were just witnessing oblivion at its purest.
